President’s Day

This year’s President’s Day consisted of a mixed pairs bowling competition, consisting of 4 groups. The winners of each group then played a semi final, followed by the final. A buffet lunch was also provided for those that wanted to eat.

Hx & District Champion of Champions

The Halifax Champion of Champions tournament is a prestigious event that showcases the skill and determination of its participants. This year, the tournament was graced by an exceptional display of talent and sportsmanship, with Gareth Coates of Akroyd Vics clinching the title in a thrilling finale. Sponsored by The Water Wizard (Tony Bannister), the tournament saw Coates secure a remarkable 21-16 victory over Richard Hargreaves of Crossroads

This year, the event took on an even more significant role by dedicating all proceeds from raffles, donations, and sales to the Overgate Hospice, a beacon of care and support for those facing life-limiting illnesses. The Halifax & District Bowling Association along with the Sowerby Tennis and Bowling Club, demonstrated remarkable generosity and community spirit by raising an impressive £784 for the hospice.

The day was a great success and was almost completed in glorious sunshine.  Unfortunately the rain didn’t hold off and the semi finals and final were played in the pouring rain.  However it didn’t spoil the day and there was some fantastic bowling on show.  From 32 pairs at the beginning of the day the final was played out between Siddal BC and Greenroyd BC.
