Congratulations to STBC Men’s A team, winners of the Men’s 1st Division (first time since 2009) and the Men’s B team, winners of the Men’s 3rd Division. In the ladies league STBC won the Division 3 title with Park A team the winners of Division 1 for the 4th consecutive year. Elland A won The Division 1 Mixed League title for the third time in four years

President’s Day
President’s Day was held on Sunday 24th August. We had a beautiful sunny day for the last club bowling/social occasion of 2025. The competition was a round robin of two groups with pairs bowling four games of six ends per game. Two semi finals were played and finally the final. The winners were Pat & Keith who beat Carol and Michael in the final. A buffet lunch was provided and the whole day was very enjoyable.

Hebden Royd Supplementary Cup Final
STBC reached the final of the Hebden Royd Supplementary Cup which was played on Sunday 11th May, 10.30 a.m. at Elland WMC.
The team, consisting of Pam and Michael Wood, Glenda and Keith Hartley, Peter Lomax and Heather Parker faced a team from Mytholmroyd in the final. At the end of some very exciting games STBC gained the victory.

Thanks go to Elland WMC for hosting the final, for the green and refreshments which were available.
BOWLS TASTER SESSION MONDAY 5TH MAY 12noon – 3pm

SOS 6th April
For once we had a lovely sunny day for our start of the season Round Robin Pairs bowling competition. Over 30 members took part in the day and also enjoyed lunch. The green and grounds are looking very good given it’s so early in the year

After several rounds of bowling the final was between Chris Garbutt and Millie Wheelwright against Joanne Fairhurst and Linden Howarth, with Chris and Millie triumphant on this occasion.







Brighouse League Presentation Night
The presentation evening took place at Rastrick Bowling club. STBC only have one team (ladies) playing in this league and this year saw that team winning the 2nd Division title and securing their place in Division one next season. As well as the team being Division Two winners, Pam Wood was also the Division Two average winner. The picture below shows Pam and Helen Harrison with the Division Two and Average Winners trophies.


Halifax Association Presentation Evening
The presentation evening was held at Rastrick BC and 2024 has been a very successful year for STBC. Having already received the Ewart Lord trophy we also picked up the following: Tuesday Evening Division 3 winners, Ladies over 55’s runners up, Martin Grace average winner division 3 Thursday Veterans and perhaps best of all the club was awarded Club of the Year. This was an acknowledgement of the fund raising and competitions hosted by the club throughout the 2024 season.

Ewart Lord Final

Ewart Lord Final
The Final of Ewart Lord Competition, sponsored by Mr Frank Lowney of Allan Park BC, was held on Thursday 5th September at West End Bowling Club. The finalists were STBC & Hipperholme BC
The match referee, Peter Martin, introduced the first pair on the green, Pam Wood STBC and Ian Walkington Hipperholme. The following three pairs were then introduced, STBC names first:
Nikki Conway v David Peel, Peter Lomax v Luke Wilczyski & Heather Parker v Mathew Parker.
STBC were giving Hipperholme 7 start but after the first two matches were up by 16 points. Respective scores for the first 4 matches were 21-6, 21-13, 11-21 & 21-10.
In the second half STBC turned up the pressure by winning three of the last four games.
Philip Schofield 21 v 10 Stevan Oakes, Michael Wood 21v10 Nigel Parker Martin Grace 21v16 Paul Bannerman. Neil Greenwood did restore some respectability by securing a win against Helen Harrison 21-13.
STBC were worthy winners 179 to 143, including team handicaps. There was some fine bowling by both teams.

Philip Schofield in receiving the Trophy thanked West End BC for hosting the Final and thanked the match referee.




Calderdale Men’s Doubles Champions
A great performance by Bub Cockroft and Chris Garbutt saw them lift the Calderdale Men’s Double Trophy beating a pair from Elland 7 – 5 in a deciding 3rd set.


President’s Day
This year’s President’s Day consisted of a mixed pairs bowling competition, consisting of 4 groups. The winners of each group then played a semi final, followed by the final. A buffet lunch was also provided for those that wanted to eat.
The day was well attended and a great success, the final was played out between Nikki Conway and Paddy Thomas against Lesley Ellison and Alan Riddles with Nikki and Paddy the eventual winners.
